June 11th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A Juba court on Tuesday sentenced detained South Sudan civil rights activist Peter Biar Ajak to two (2) years in prison.
Peter Biar Ajak who is as also the founder of South Sudan Young Leaders Forum (SSYLF) was arrested by South Sudan’s National Security Service (NSS) at Juba Airport in July 2018 while boarding a plane to Northern Bahr El-Ghazal capital Aweil.
In March, the same court charged Biar with terror and treason after a eight-month detention without court procedure.
The court also sentenced businessman, Kerbino Wol, to ten (10) years in prison. Four other people were sentenced to five (5) years each. All the terms commence from the date pf arrest and detention.
Wol, a prominent businessman was arrested by National Security officials in the capital Juba in April 2018.
He has been held without charges until early this year. He was accused of masterminding prison riots in which inmates protested against lengthy detentions at Blue House in October 2018
