Rebel commander abandons Changson, joins Ruai Kuol’s group

December 19th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – A rebel officer from the Federal Democratic Party (FDP) led by the hosted Chairman of South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) Gabriel Changson Lew has announced his intention to defect from the FDP and join the National People’s Alliance Movement (NPAM) led by former SPLM-IO governor of unity state, Gen. Ruai Kuol Jal.

Maj. Gen. Angelo Duop Dak Ruai who announced his defection on Monday in a statement seen by the Nyamilepedia however did not mentioned the reason why he unexpectedly defected from the armed opposition group to join NPAM.

“This is to inform the people of south Sudan that, I Major General, Angelo Duop Ruai Pouk, joined the NPAM/FSS under the leadership of Lt. Gen. Ruai Kuol Jal Thor with over 40 offices for peace implementation,” he wrote in the statement seen by the Nyamilepedia dated 17th December 2018.

“I have defected from (SSOA) under the leadership of political leader Gabriel Changson Chang [who is] the leader of Federal Democratic Party,” he added.

For his part, the spokesman of the National People’s Alliance Movement (NPAM) Michael Machieng Puok further welcomed the defection of the rebel officer from Changson’s Federal Democratic Party (FDP).

“….the Leadership of your movement, NPAM/FSS, is delighted to welcome Major General Angelo Duop Ruai Puok, along with other (40) Officers from SSOA’s FDP under Gabriel Changson Lew,” Puok said in the statement seen by the Nyamilepedia.

“As enlightened South Sudanese, NPAM/FSS leadership welcomes your wise choice to join its membership and participation in peace-building and restoration to install a prosperous Republic that all have always [been] dreaming of,” he added in the statement.
