July 31st 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s former SPLA Chief of General Staff Gen. Paul Malong Awan who is now leading an armed rebellion against the government of South Sudan has accused President Kiir of selling the country in the name of power.
Malong was directing the accusation to the President in a statement he issued on Monday to mark the country’s martyrs day in which millions of South Sudanese including the founder of the ruling party, Dr. John Garang de’Mabior, died.
“In the recent past, we were the epitome of resilience and perseverance but through bad governance, we have become a symbol of dismay with Salva Kiir persistently auctioning the country to the highest bidders in the name of power,” Malong said in the statement seen by the Nyamielpedia.
However, Malong did not mention who the “highest bidders” whom Kiir is trading the country in their favor.
He further said the people of South Sudanese are all equal as they fought for the independent of the country together collectively saying no one is bigger or smaller than who.
“Despite the collective resolve and strength of the people got freedom for our society, no one is small or big. We have in our memory the story of squirrel which became an agent of change. That is why we must remember that no one among the eight million South Sudanese is either a small or big. Everyone is equal,” Malong further said.
