Dec 22, 2016(Nyamilepedia) ——- Christmas time was one of our beautiful and joyful times in history Of South Sudan. During the time of joyful Christmas; at the beginning of Christmas month, that is to say during the first days of December, all children regardless of religion were excited to receive Christmas day. Parents were busy happily shopping for sandals and clothes. Women and mothers took the burden and responsibilities of warm successful welcoming of Christmas. They were busy to ensure that their houses have varieties of small candies, biscuits, Date palm, varieties of cakes, and so forth, and decorating houses inside and outside. Tailors were working hard between 16 to 20 hours a day cutting and sewing new clothes and dresses needed for Christmas celebration.

On the night of December 24, celebrations started and were being interrupted by prayers in the mid of the night. Morning hours of December 25 were occupied by prayers. After the prayer, kids well dressed, moving happily from home to home saying at the doors ‘happy Christmas’ and in turn the host offerd to the kids candies, biscuits date palm etc. December 26 to January first are full of traditional dances, parties organised by youth, families visitations, friends visitations, traveling to country-sides and etc.
Oh my God, all these happened peacefully without any terrorist attack, without any thing being call gunman/gunmen killed people, without any person or family being attacked, without environment in which government was targeting people, and etc. unfortunately, Christmas time is no longer the same as a safe joyful time.
Events of sad Christmas happened in Equatoria in two terms of Abel Alier Kwai, when he was the president of High Executive Council of Southern Sudan. Those sad events disappeared with his absence from holding top political position in South Sudan. Again and in a worse form, Sad Christmas started in Equatoria back to the time Salva Kiir assumed leadership position in Juba in 2005. From that time 2005 up to now, every year, Christmas getting worse then of the previous year. So as a curse, this Christmas of 2016 is not going to be among the beautiful one. It is getting worse than the rest of the year before. We need to enjoy this Christmas, but we need to be careful. There are a lot of people out there not happy to see us happy in our simple traditional ways. They are backed by Salva Kiir to make our lives miserable. They make us to have no more safe Christmas parties, no more safe traditional dances, no more safe traveling to country-sides, no more safe families visitations, no more safe friends gatherings and no more …. and no more …. and no more ….
But one day, God’s miracle will happen. It can happen any time. So, brothers and sisters pray for miracle peace from God. The miracle of peace from God can be in one of a lot of forms. We may see that during one of a time in which Salva Kiir and his supporters are enjoying sleeping, celebration or meeting of enmity, God use Obama hand or any other means to hold Salva Kiir and some of his supports and presents them to International Court, or any one of the Western countries takes the lead of justice inside South Sudan.
When that miracle happens, we will surly praising God and saying (Luke 2: 14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace.”)
I cannot say happy Christmas, but it is easy for me to say; may peace of God be with us during this sad Christmas celebrations.
In God we put our hopes and to the end we go.
