GRECOR Press Release,
June 27, 2014
June 28, 2014(Nyamilepedia) — President Kiir has launch war against Equatorian since he realizes people of Equatoria are for federalism which coincide with the demands of Dr. Riak Machar. Mr. Kiir made it public during his speech to parliament follow by his spoke person Ateny Wek Ateny comments to the press few days later.
Equatoria governors need to be commended for courageous respond to the desire of their people. In the light of current campaign against Equatorian by Mr. Kiir and his followers, Equatorian parliamentarian need to show leadership, either stand by the people they took oath to represent in the parliament or Salva Kiir.

GRECOR is putting president Kiir on notice and want the international community to be aware that deliberately campaign against Equatorian is not accepted. The current campaign is a continuation of what happen during 14 December 2013 which spark the civil war. The Current civil war started by Mr. Kiir speech during the SPLM convention in Nyakuron where Mr. Kiir called Dr. Machar a traitor for 1991 split within the SPLM.
After the speech, presidential guard who were of Nuer ethnic group were order to disarm and when they disobey the order, the Dinka guards open fire on their fellow guards. The speech was a signal for the elimination of the Nuer leadership. Now Mr. Kiir is turning his tactic against the Equatorian by public denouncing Equatorian for presenting a unifying front for federalism. Mr. Kiir’s words are putting millions of lives at mercy of security apparatus, which is Dinka dominated and control.
GRECOR is calling upon members of Parliament from Greater Equatoria and Upper Nile to make their positions public whether their interest lay in serving Mr. Kiir or their constituencies? The constituencies of both regions of South Sudan are unified for federalism and what is the Parliamentarian doing to accommodate their demands?
GRECOR is aware of the power grab in the Parliament between Mr. Kiir and those parliamentarians who wishes to represent their constituencies. If Mr. Kiir insist on removing those Parliamentarian from chairing the committees, Parliamentarian from Equatoria and Upper Nile need to withdrew from Parliament. The ironic thing in this power grab by Salva Kiir is that last Thursday Mr. Kiir pretend to defend the rights of constituencies to representation from transitional government warning against any attempt to dissolved the Parliament for the seek of peace.
Mr. Salva Kiir knows that he was an accidental leader. His peers selected him to lead South Sudan because of his position within the SPLM politburo rather than for his skillfulness in understanding the dynamic of leading a diverse country like South Sudan. Had Mr. Kiir been the most qualify person for the job, the current crisis would have been averted or concluded by now. Equatorian governors have shown Mr. Kiir that following constituencies wishes is what elected leaders do but that is a lesson Mr. Kiir will not understand. Equatorian like to see their Parliamentarian show the same leadership that the governors have shown the nation.
The killing of Equatorians is not going to follow the same scrip like what happened to our Nuer brothers but rather targeted elimination of individuals who are educated, professionals, community leaders and politicians. It will happen at night when no one is watching and presented as robbery carried out by criminals rather than security apparatus. GRECOR wanted people of Equatoria to be aware of this threat and act accordingly.

What happen to Nuer people in Juba shouldn’t have happen had we citizens of South Sudan taken our responsibility seriously as custodian of the government and limit what government can do verses citizen. That is not to say that South Sudanese condoned what happen in Juba on 14 December 2013. In fact, the unity among Equatorian is a repudiation of Mr. Kiir leadership and the acts of 14 December 2013. It is going to take unified spirit shown by Equatorian around South Sudan to start putting together pieces of what is left of beloved South Sudan. Don’t let the ridge of injustice, ignorance, corruption, mismanagement, nepotism, ethnic superiority among few becomes the norm: Not in South Sudan, Not now not ever not under our watch.Lado Lodoka is a member of GRECOR South Sudan.
