April 02, 2014 (Nyamilepedia) — An SPLA officer in the loyal forces, with the ranks of Major was found dead in Tombura, Western Equatoria State, Eye radio 98.6 FM reports in Juba.The Major, identified as James Martin Ibra, went missing before his ultimate disappearance. “His whereabouts was not known,” said Arkangelo Anyar, the mayor of Wau, who received his body in the neighboring Western Bahr al Ghazal State.
The Mayor, did not give any detailed information of what led to his killing but affirmed that an investigation is underway. Anyar said the body is sent home for burial.
Martin Ibra will join the list of other SPLA generals that have died in less than 4 months. Brig. Gen Kawach Deng Kawach, the Army Commander of Pibor Military area of Jonglei state, was shot and killed on March 12, in Juba by unknown gunmen. The killer, believed to be a police officer, was arrested in connection to his death. Lieutenant-Colonel Abraham Thiong, a battalion commander from Twic East County in Jonglei state, was reportedly killed by his body guards in Malakal in late January. This mark a few murder cases that are currently being investigated by the SPLA.
Brig. Garang Tong Atak, Brig. Gen. Abraham Jongroor Deng, General Marach Akoon, among other commanding officers were killed at the front line within the last three months. Ugandan generals were not spared either. Brig. Geoffrey Kakama also met his death in South Sudan’s Jonglei state last month.

Uganda has been fighting alongside the government forces since December. The Uganda People Defense Force is currently defending installations in Bor, Juba and Malakal, but Akunda believes that Uganda may withdraw its forces this month.
