November 1, 2014(Nyamilepedia) — It is with deep sorrow to learn the sudden demise of our country’s elder son, former Governor of south Sudan’s central bank late Hon. Elijah Malok who passed on here in Nairobi on the 30th October 2014. Herewith, the south Sudan students Association in Kenya (SSSAK) declares three days of mourning in respect of this distinguish state man. On this 1st day of November 2014 until further notices, we apologetically suspended all our official students’ activities that we had arranged for the weekend and forth.

Thus, we advise all members of SSSAK in higher learning starting here at University of Nairobi, Mount Kenya University campus in Turkana up to Tom Mboya Labour College in Kisumu et cetera to take minutes of silence in his honor. Meanwhile we dedicated this precious moment to him, we should research and give keen reflections to the works he has devotedly done in his seventy seven years of service for our country. Notably, one virtue late Elijah Malok was so passionate about was his love for education, truth telling and generosity. He was ardent believer and practitioner of all forms of social freedoms destined for the wellbeing of South Sudanese people regardless of their geographical areas.

He was born in a rural and interior part of our country‘s Jonglie state but crawled to the apex of academia and become a leading technocrat of pre and post-south Sudan struggle for independent.

Notwithstanding, Just like we say in Africa, ‘‘when Hero fall or died, people don’t weep or cry, instead you just pick his spear and run with it’’ we urge the expatriates to pick and learn from what he left for us, the spirit of nationalism, patriotism, equality and his unfaltering thirst for unity of all south Sudanese and Africans; as well as kicking out jealously all the vices that have been entrenched and continue to deepen in our society, i.e. sycophancy, ethnic chauvinism and rampant disregard for the rule of law.

Your life has not been in vain. There shall come a time when we would remember you with numerous Gun Salutes, ‘‘May your soul rest in eternal peace’’

Dak Buoth

Chairman –SSSAK

Signed.
