July 25th, 2014 (Nyamilepedia) — The Sudan People Liberation Movement (SPLM/SPLA in Opposition) through the Office of Chairman for National Committee for Political Mobilization has come up with new membership application form that will act as a subscription to a number of fundamental principles that the SPLM/SPLA advocate for.

According to Dr. Oyet  Nathaniel the fundamentals that the elites in opposition envision to achieve includes Democratic Federal Republic, Popular Sovereignty as opposed to the current protectorate under dictators and tyrannies, Constitutionalism, Rule of Law, and Economic Revolution in which wealth and resources shall be left to the people as a oppose to a few cliques that do not deliver services.

The opposition, according to Dr. Oyet, is determined to constitute structures that will allow for transparency, accountability, auditing and among other principles to curb the predominant corruption and expedite service delivery. Oyet believes that this restructuring could have been achieved before December 2013 if the current regime provides conducive grounds.

From May, 2013, President Salva Kiir and his group overthrew SPLM/SPLA from holding government and driving the aspiration of the people of South Sudan towards unity, equality and progress when they blocked the SPLM/SPLA National Convention scheduled to discuss and pass basic documents which contained much needed reforms in the Party and the government.

Oyet reiterates that the historic SPLM/SPLA is a movement of political organizations, comprising of sisterly political parties, that are “opposed to the current corrupt and murderous regime in Juba”, and therefore, the membership is opened to all south Sudanese nationals within the country and those in Diaspora, regardless of their political affiliation, sex, religion, ethnicity and race.

According to the Chairperson, Mr. Oyet  Nathaniel, the new application forms are technologically upgraded with modern features. He explains that the applicants can now subscribe online through an electronic version by filling within a yellow box in a link that will be provided. Alternatively, prospective applicants can also submit a print copy to any nearest office.

The report also indicates that old members are required to renew their membership as a subscription to the reforms and transformation that the movement is currently working to achieve.

Oyet calls on Opposition parties supporters  and sympathizers in Upper Nile, Equatoria, Bar El Gazel region, Abyei and Diaspora to apply through their nearest branch offices or do so on line.

The political scientist, Dr Oyet, concludes by reaffirming that the abuse of power in the government is due to helplessness of president Salva Kiir and his cohorts, who fail to act in accordance to the political party’s principle and ideologies which are engraved in the manifestos they pledge to serve.

According to Dr. Oyet, “SPLM/SPLA is a historical party and is a vehicle which has not yet reached its destination until the change and transformation of the society and state of South Sudan is achieved.”
