June 29, 2021 – Ogena Elias Ibrahim, the bodyguard of the Western Bahr el Ghazal Governor has been reportedly found dead in the State capital Wau.
According to a report by local media, the 32-year-old was found dead in her house in Lok-lokko on Sunday and the cause of death was not established.
A mother of three, the deceased was one of the bodyguards of Western Bahr el Ghazal State and South Sudan’s only female Governor Sarah Cleto.
Contrary to a social media report that the bodyguard died in the office of the Governor, authorities in Wau say Ogena, who was also a police officer with the rank of second lieutenant, was found dead on her bed.
“There are some rumors that she died at the governor’s house, but she died at her house in Lok-lokko residential area. They found her lying on the bed,” Andison Arkanjelo Musa Albino, the Western Bahr el Ghazal Minister of Information told the media on Tuesday.
While the course of the death was still unknown, Arkanjelo said a post-mortem would be done to establish the actual cause of death.
The incident is the first of its kind to have happened within the gubernatorial ranks in the state.
