VP Wani Igga hands over Jonglei-Pibor Intercommunal Crisis Report to President Kiir

Juba, South Sudan,

May 10, 2021 — South Sudan Vice President of Economic Cluster and the Chairman of the Committee monitoring Jonglei-Pibor Intercommunal Crisis has submitted his report and briefed president Salva Kiir on the situation in Jonglei State.

The Chairman and his deputy, Gen. Daniel Awet Akot, presented the report to President Kiir on Monday at J1.

“Monday 10th May 2021- His Excellency President Salva Kiir received a report from Jonglei/Pibor Crisis Management committee that was set-up by the President to resolve the intercommunal conflict in Jonglei state and Pibor Administrative Area.” The office of the Minister of Presidential Affairs announced today.

“The report was presented to President Salva Kiir by the Vice President Dr. James Wani Igga who is the chairperson of the committee and his deputy chairperson Daniel Awet Akot.” part of the report reads.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Vice President Dr. James Wani Igga said that they have presented their report to the President and briefed him on the current developments which are ongoing in Jonglei State.

Dr. James Wani Iggi said they came to the President to propose mechanisms for monitoring the situation in Jonglei State on a daily basis.

In attendance was the Minister of Presidential Affairs Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin.
