UN peacekeepers, Juba City Council cleans Juba streets

June 10th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) and the Juba City Council have launched a join campaign to clean the capital Juba streets as well as internally displaced camps according to a statement seen by the Nyamilepedia.

According to UNMISS, the campaign aims at making “mission camps and surroundings of Juba and IDP camps cleaner, greener, healthier and more environmentally efficient.”

During the launch of the communal exercise on Saturday, UNMISS leadership, all Police, military and civilian peacekeepers from various UN contributing nations, cleaned the city and other towns of plastic bags and littered bottles, and planted trees.

The launch of the monthly exercise was presided over by the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) and head of UNMISS, David Shearer.
