December 3, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — About 200 soldiers yesterday stormed Manyumeen boma in Pibor County of South Sudan’s Pibor Administrate Area in the pretext of identifying members of the armed opposition (SPLA-IO) in the area.

According to eyewitnesses, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the soldiers who were led by a colonel seized a home in Maynumeen Boma believed to belong to an in-law of Brig. Gen. John Ole-ruum of SPLA (IO).

The resident said the soldiers indiscriminately opened fire upon their arrival and eventually burned down houses before they retreat.

While two children sustained injuries, houses were burned and an estimated 100 heads of cattle were raided.

The two children are being treated at MSF-Belgium clinic in the town of Pibor.

According to the residents, the 100 heads of cattle were taken by the SPLA-Juba soldiers to unknown destination.

Other sources within Pibor alleged, they could see soldiers today afternoon sharing and selling the collected cows.

SPLA (IO)’s John Ole-ruum when contacted denied any present of their troops in Manyumeen Boma, and calls on government soldiers to observe the ceasefire and respect the implementation process of the peace agreement.

“Firstly, we don’t have soldiers in Manyumeen, even if we were having members there, why would they come for us when the peace deal is reached by our principals? Or Pibor administration is different from Juba administration?” Stated Brig. Gen. John Ole-ruum.

“Secondly, we are observing the ceasefire at our bases and we urge them to do the same in their camps. Also they should respect the civil population around them and their property” Emphasized Ole-ruum.

Residents of Manyumeen Boma, strongly condemned the incident and called on the soldiers to respect civilians and separate them from the warring factions.
