November 10th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The Troika countries (United States, United Kingdom and Norway) have issued a statement urging South Sudan parties to resolve all the outstanding issues before the end of the 100 pre-transitional period.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit and main armed opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny met in Uganda last week and decided to extend the pre-transitional period for 100 days further delaying the formation of the transitional government of national unity.

A meeting of the parties in Addis Ababa on Saturday further endorsed the outcome of the Uganda meeting which was organized by the Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and Sudan’s leader of Sovereignty Council Abdel Fatah al-Burhan.

“It is vital that the next 100 days are spent wisely, by implementing practical solutions to the contested issues that are holding back the formation of the new government,” the Troika said in a statement seen by Nyamilepedia.

The statement urged the government to release the funds needed in the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement, establish the unified forces, include the agreement in the constitution and address the number and boundaries of states.

“We expect that the parties used the meetings yesterday to establish clear, achievable, and time-bound benchmarks for the next 100 days,” the statement said.
