Top NAS commander allied to Khalid Butrus dies after long illness

December 4th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – A top senior commander of the National Salvation Front, (NAS) led by Khalid Butrus has died following a very long illness according to the group’s official Chairperson of National Committee, Jacob Lado Paul.

Jacob Lado Paul, the group’s Chairperson of the National Committee for Information and the official spokesperson said in a brief statement to the Nyamilepedia that Maj. Gen. Luka Philip Tabalang who was the group’s Deputy Chief of General Staff for Logistics died on Friday in the group’s military general headquarters Loborak in the Boma state following an unidentified illness.

“Leadership of National Salvation Front (NAS) led by Khalid Butrus Bora with deep sorrow regrets to inform its members, Peace lovers, sympathizers and general public of the death of deputy chief of general staff for logistics Major general Luka Philip Tabalang which took place on Friday 30th December 2018 in military headquarter Loborak,  Pibor of Boma state,” Paul said in a statement to the Nyamilepedia on Tuesday.

He said the late general was sick and that he died after battling it for a lengthy period of time bu but Paul did not mention the sickness the late general was suffering from.

“He was serious sick and finally taken away by our heavenly father, may almighty God comfort his family, love ones, relatives and rest his soul in eternal peace,” he added.

The National Salvation Front – Khalid Butrus (NAS-KB) is a faction of the NAS led by Gen. Thomas Cirilo which pulled out of the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) led by Gen. Peter Gatdet to protest what it call refusal by the Sudanese mediation to address some concerns like but not limited to Federalism and the number of states during the would-be transitional period.

Cirilo rejected the agreement and since, military operations between it and government troops continued in the Equatoria region with the two blaming each other for attacking the other.
