In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, Hemetti says he will stay in Juba for not less than a day in what he depicted as an official visit adding that Northerners and South Sudanese are one in two countries and will continue strengthening their bilateral ties for the betterment of the two sisterly countries.

“With God’s help and success, I am heading today to Juba, the capital of the sisterly state of South Sudan, for an official visit that will last for one day”, the statement reads.

“We are united with the people and government of South Sudan by bonds of brotherhood, friendship, and common interests. In fact, we are one people in two countries. We hope to develop this relationship and raise it to the level of integration to serve, elevate and prosper our two countries”, added in the statement that appeared on his page.

Hemetti who did not disclose the mission of his one-day visit has been warmly received by Tut Gatluak Manime, South Sudan’s Presidential Advisor on National Security Affairs who doubles also as Chief Mediator of the Juba Peace Agreement signed last year in October 2020 under the auspices of South Sudanese President Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit.

It is not clear whether Hemetti is in Juba for a peace mission or for another official business.

Two months ago, Mr. Gatluak issued a statement adjourning the peace talks until further notice citing the lack of enough time for the signatories to consult themselves over contentious issues.
