SPLM-IO happy over the appearance of kidnapped governor, urges gov’t to release detainees

October 9th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) led by South Sudan’s former First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon has expressed happiness with the news of appearance of its governor kidnapped by government operatives in Kenya in 2017.

Marko Lokidor, SPLM-IO governor of Kapoeta state, who was kidnapped by government security operative on Sunday appeared at the Juba National Security Headquarters after rioters went into a military confrontation in demand of immediate release.

In an exclusive interview with the Nyamilepedia on Monday, the SPLM-IO Director of the National Committee for Information and Public Relations, Puok Both Baluang said its a joyful news to hear about the appearance of Gen. Marko Lokidor.

“It’s a joyful news hearing that our Cde General Marko is alive, it’s also emphatically confirms our rhetoric that the government of Juba is the one detaining our comrades,” Baluang told the Nyamilepedia.

He says the SPLM-IO reiterates its call for the government to release all its detainees being held in different parts of South Sudan as part of implementaion of the permenent ceasefire agreement and the peace deal.

“Therefore the SPLM/A (IO) reiterating its calls for releasing all the political detainees and the POWs inline with Article 2.1.6. Of the R-ARCSS,” he further added.
