February 7th 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s main armed opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny has left the Sudanese capital Khartoum for the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa where he is expected to attend a summit on South Sudan, opposition officials said.

“The Chairman and Commander in Chief has departed Khartoum airport going to attend the meeting of C5 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia which is about to discuss South Sudan peace process,” a senior opposition official said in a brief statement to Nyamilepedia.

“He will meet President Salva Kiir on the sideline of the IGAD meeting of the heads of state and government which will only discuss the South Sudan peace process,” another opposition official added.

The government and opposition groups including the SPLM-IO signed a revitalized version of a 2015 peace agreement in 2018.

A deadline for a unity government formation is approaching as parties disagree weather that government will be formed or not.
