October 30th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A senior SPLA-IO commander who reportedly killed an opposition intelligence officer has defected to the government of President Salva Kiir.
Major General Kamal Louma Yange – a source said from Khartoum – was being hunted when he surprisingly declared to join the government of President Salva Kiir Mayardit in the Upper Nile region.
“General Kamal has defected to the government,” the source said. “we were surprised when we heard of his defection because he is a fugitive running away from justice.”
The source said General Kamal who hails from Upper Nile’s Maban county killed an intelligence officer and then ran away after he learned that relatives and rebel police officers were hunting for him.
Although several social media sources claims the rebel officer defected with a huge force, it remains unclear how much force exactly fled with him.
