South Sudan’s Kiir bids farewell to under-15 footballers bound for South Korea

August 21st 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit has given a warm send-off to 16 teenage footballers heading to South Korea to represent the entire continent of Africa and South Sudan in particular.

H.E. the President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, bid farewell to the South Sudan under 15 football team this morning. The team will represent South Sudan and Africa in South Korea among other 70 teams,” a statement by South Sudan’s presidency partly read.

The President briefed the young footballers and encouraged them to show off the pride of the young nation by waving the national flag of South Sudan which symbolizes the nation’s identity.

The President encouraged the players to represent the whole of Africa as a continent and South Sudan in particular, and to fly the flag of South Sudan high,” the statement added.

The departure of South Sudan’s young football players was attended by senior government officials at the state house on Tuesday.
