South Sudanese university student shot dead during protest in Khartoum.

October 28, 2021—A South Sudanese student studying in one of the universities in Khartoum was among the protesters, who were shot dead, during the nationwide protests in Sudan following the military coup against the transitional government on Monday, October 25, 2021.

According to eye witnesses, the victim, who was identified as Mohammed-Salih Kur Lual Kur, was shot by a live bullet while traveling home after school on Monday.

Family members of the young South Sudanese student said Mohamed-Salih was shot on the head at a bus station.

“He was shot in the head, with a live bullet, at a bus station,” Kur’s Uncle Ngor Jok told Eye Radio on Wednesday.

According to the victim’s uncle, Late. Kur was a first-year student studying Electrical Engineering at Imam Alhadi University in Khartoum.

The 18-year-old young man was son of Kur Lual Kur, a lawyer based in Juba, South Sudan.

On Tuesday, an official advised South Sudanese nationals in Sudan to remain indoors after the military leadership imposed a state of emergency. Some of them had said they were living in fear after the arrest of civilian leaders sparked protests.

U. S government advised his nationals in Sudan to stay in their respective residences until the avenues are arranged to evacuate them.

Latest media reports confirmed that at least 10 people are killed and dozens others injured after soldiers opened fire on protesters.
