October 6th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan government said on Thursday that it needs more time to pay its membership fees in the East African Community (EAC).

The East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) in a meeting in Arusha on Thursday decided on South Sudan’s membership after failing to pay its membership fees arrears after a grace period of 18 months.

The world’s youngest nation will likely be suspended in November during a meeting of the Heads of states and government.

Hon. Ayason Mukulia Kennedy, a member of the East African Legislative Assembly representing South Sudan said the world’s youngest country needs more time to prepare to clear its membership fees.

We are saying give us more time,” Kennedy said.

The measures expected to be taken by the regional body next month will not only be limited to failure of the South Sudan pay its fees but will also include its lack of commitment to bring about a lasting peace as citizen starves to death.
