June 14th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Members of South Sudan’s law enforcement agencies have been trained on the use and recruitment of Child Soldiers.

The training was administered by the Roméo Dallaire Child Soldiers Initiative.

Based in Canada, the Rom̩o Dallaire Child Soldiers Initiative Рalso the Dallaire Initiative Рis a global partnership whose mission is to progressively eradicate the use and recruitment of child soldiers through a security sector approach.

The training conducted in the  capital Juba was attended by law enforcement agencies from various police departments.

South Sudan is one of the countries with the worst records in recruiting child soldiers.
Reports released in 2018 by the UN child agency, UNICEF, estimated that over 19,000 children have been associated with armed forces.

Although UNICEF has facilitated the release of 900 children from armed groups on both sides, the International Child Soldiers Organization continues to believe that a number of children are still associated with the South Sudanese armed forces in the country.
