South Sudan parties said to have agreed on states allocation

April 29, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) — South Sudan parties to the revitalized unity government have reached an agreement over the allocation of state governors, a senior opposition official said Wednesday.

Based on the latest agreement, the parties agreed to have twenty (20) state ministers two (2) two deputy governors in each state and sixty-four (64) members of state parliament.

The parties agreed to give the SPLM faction under President Salva Kiir to take five states. These includes Central Equatoria state, Western Equatoria state, Northern Bahr el-Ghazal state, Warrap state and unity.

The SPLM-IO will take three states of Lakes, Eastern Equatoria and Upper Nile.

Other Opposition Parties (OPP) will have Western Bahr el-Ghazal while South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) will take Jonglei state.

For deputy governors, the SPLM faction of President Kiir will have eight (8) deputy governors, SPLM-IO under First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny will have six deputy govenors, SSOA will have four and OPP will have two.

For state MPs, Kiir’s faction will have thirty (30) in each state, Machar’s group to have twenty (20), SSOA to have nine (9), and OPP will have five (5).

In regards to the Administrative Areas, the SPLM will have two administrative areas of Abyei and Pibor. The SPLM-IO will take Ruweng. The SSOA will have one deputy Administrator of Abyei, OPP will deputize the one in Pibor. The SPLM faction of Kiir will deputize the one in Ruweng.

The parties also agreed to create ten commissions in the country and will be divided as follow: SPLM-IG will have four (4) SPLM-IO will have three (3), SSOA to have two (2) and OPP will have one (1).

The parties also agreed to have 79 countries will will be divided as follow: SPLM-IG to have thrity-four (34), SPLM-IO twenty-five (25), SSOA to have ten (10), OPP to have ten (10).

The parties have not however to identified which county go to whom and which commission goes to who.
