September 7th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan government has set one condition for the selection of ministerial portfolios between it and opposition groups, opposition official told the Nyamilepedia on Friday.

Wazir Michael Liah who is the deputy spokesman of NAS said there is no any negotiations being made over the selection mechanism of the ministerial portfolios but the government has filed a reservation on the issue.

He said the government wants to select it’s share of the ministerial portfolios before the opposition could chose it’s share.

“There’s no any negotiations between the Government and Oppositions on that issue [now]. What is there is just some reservations by the parties.  Four by the opposition and one for the government,” he said.

He said the government want to select it’s share first before it comes to the opposition groups.

“Government says they will select their ministries first then Oppositions after them,” he said.

South Sudan government and opposition groups signed a peace deal on August 2018. The agreement called for the extension of the South Sudan cabinet to 35.

The incumbent South Sudan government to have a share of 20 ministers, Machar’s SPLM-IO to have nine ministers and the other opposition groups to have six.

The agreement establishes a presidency with five Vice-Presidents with Machar to be reinstated to his previous position as the First Vice President.
