South Sudan, Chinese company signs deal to construct Juba-Bahr Al-Ghazal highway

March 25th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan government on Monday signed an agreement with a Chinese company to construct the Juba-Bahr Al-Ghazal highway which will also pass through the country’s Terekeka state, the Presidency announced in a statement this afternoon.

The agreement with the Chinese Road Company, Shandong Construction, was signed by the Undersecretary in the Ministry of Finance and Economy, Biel Jok, on behlaf of the government of South Sudan and by Mr. Li Xiao, the Director General of Shandong Corporation, on behalf of the company.

President Salva Kiir witnessed the ceremony.

Speaking to the press following the signing, Mr. Jok said the work of the company will “start within two week time.” He further added that all the preparations needed will be completed by the petroleum ministry in the meantime.
