“We are going to issue an order that any member of the organized forces found drinking alcohol in the market will be arrested,” said John Songira, the mayor of yambio County.

“We want only those who are on duty to move with their guns.”

The mayor’s utterance was prompted by a bizarre Tuesday evening incident. In a freak accident a drunk prison warden identified as Daniel Khamis bombed himself injuring seven people and killing himself in the process.

According to the Deputy Executive Director of Yambio County, Mr. James Augustino, the prison warden who was drunk had a quarrel with his fellow officer.

The agitated warden rushed home to collect a grenade to kill his colleague but on the way back he hurled the grenade killing himself and injuring seven other civilians.

The injured civilians were rushed to Yambio Hospital for treatment. Mayor Songira urged the members of the organized forces to restrain from drinking while carrying guns and bombs in public places.

“What happened is that there was a prison officer who was quarrelling with his colleague and then he ran home to take a grenade to kill his colleague who was quarrelling with him. But when he was on the way, he accidentally hurled the grenade. So he killed himself and wounded seven other people,” explained Augustino.
