Dec 24, 2019(Nyamilepedia) — The latest reports from South Sudan’s Bieh State confirmed that youth, who are believed to be from the neighboring Murle tribe, have carried out attacks and raided herds of cattle in at least five payams in Akobo Central and Nyirol East counties.
According to reliable sources, at least 350 herds of cattle were raided by the alleged Murle youth in Boung, Kaikuiny, Dangejok, Luony and Wunbil Payams of Akobo Central and Nyirol East counties between December 19, 2019, and December 23, 2019.
Although the local sources could not verify any number of casualties and whether the raiders have withdrawn from Lou-Nuer areas or not, Bieh State government condemns the attack and call on youth to remain vigilant.
The recent attacks on Lou-Nuer areas followed subsequent attacks in the new Jonglei State and local sources in Jonglei also accused youth from the Murle tribe to be behind such attacks.
Murle youth have been on the news for the past years for raiding cattle and kidnapping of children and women within their borders in South Sudan and also across the border in neighboring Ethiopia.
