In a statement obtained by Nyamilepedia, the Press Unit of the Sudanese Ministry of Information announced that the Prime Minister Hamdok and other five officials who are the adamant advocates of the civilian rule have been detained and their whereabouts remain mysterious.

“There is coup taking place now in Sudan and the Prime Minister Hamdok along with other leading pro-democracy Ministers in the cabinet have been arrested and driven to unknown locations”, the statement reads.

Speaking to Nyamilepedia from Khartoum, one of the senior government officials working at the Ministry of Youth and Sports who requested to speak on condition of anonymity said  the coup is being carried out by the same elements loyal to the ousted President Omer Al-Bashir with collaboration with two powerful military commanders Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan and Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo “Hemetti”.

” I would like to assure you that they are the same elements who have been attempting coups but the different is that this time they have allied with military component of the government in order to sideline Hamdok and steal the revolution so that they continue their military business like they have been doing since 1958″,the senior official who requested not to be identified told Nyamilepedia from Sudanese Capital Khartoum.

Historically Sudan has been led by military rules as many Sudanese leaders usurped the powers through military means.

This week ,during demonstrations, there were number of protesters chanting slogans demanding democratic transition in the country or else Omer Al-Bashir should be reinstated citing lack of clear direction from the incumbent Transitional Government.
