January 23rd 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – A statement by the Greater Bul Youth Union (GBYU) in Juba issued on Wednesday endorsing the 32 states has been condemned by some members of the organization.

On Wednesday, a statement attributed to the GBYU was published by newspapers in Juba endorsing the controversial 32 states in the country.

The statement argued that the extension of the country’s number of states has been a demand by the people of South Sudan since before the independence.

However, speaking to Nyamilepedia this afternoon, Gatkuoth Mut Turoah who hails from Mayom county and who was previously the spokesman of late Gen. Peter Gatdet and son of highly respected Nuer spiritual leader Mut Turoah, said the statement doesn’t represent the entire Mayom youth and said he condemns it in the strongest term possible.

“As active youth in South Sudan, I condemn this baseless statement issued by Mr. Makuar (the chairman of the GBYU in Juba) and his colleagues in juba,” Gatkuoth said.

He further said the controversial issue “doesn’t want a rush decision because this folks are already blind fool by the so-called Tut Gatluak and Nguen Manytuil in juba.”

Another member of the organization who said he is an activist told Nyamilepedia separately that his community is committed to the peaceful co-existence of communities in the country saying however that it should not be a “peace that will take our land from us.”
