December 27th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The South Sudan United Front (SSUF/A) led by the former SPLA Chief of General Staff Gen. Paul Malong Awan Anei said on Wednesday that they condemns the attack which took place over the weekend in the Lakes region.

On Tuesday,  state officials and other residents told the Nyamilepedia that fighting took place in Western Lakes state between armed civilians but could not identify who the parties involved.

In a statement issued on Thursday,  the south Sudan United Front (SSUF)  said it condemns the attack which it said was organized by militias allied to the Director of National Security, Akol Koor Kuc.

“The SSUF/A is condemning the recent attack on Pakam Community of Rumbek North. The heavily armed militia men loyal to Akol Koor Kuc, the Director General of the National Intelligence and Security Service have committed serious crime,” the statement issued on Wednesday partly read.

He claimed the attackers acted with the direct supervision of the National Security chief and that he has knowledge as to what will happen prior,  a claim the Nyamilepedia could not verify.

“They assaulted unarmed community from Western Lakes State. The attackers have no motives other than looting and creation of anarchy in the country, that is in the interest of Akol Koor and Governor Matur Chut who are beneficiaries of conflicts,” the statement further said.

“The said criminals are currently in Alor County of Rumbek North where they have killed 11 innocent unarmed civilians comprising of men and women and 28 others sustained serious injuries,” the statement added.

It claimed that the government had disarmed the Pakam community while arming their enemies for the aim of killing them condemning the attack saying they either be protected or be given their guns.

“The government disarmed Pakam Community and they allowed their armed neighbours to kill them. Other sources suggested that it was an act of depopulating Pakam vast lands,” it said.

“We condemn this act with all terms possible …….  Pakam must be rescued or should be given back their arms for self-defence. This stand condemned,” it added.
