Machar Told Mogae: You Are Responsible For Ongoing Genocide, Famine And Mass Displacement in South Sudan

April 02, 2017(Nyamilepedia) ——The leader of the largest armed group in South Sudan Dr. Riek Machar says Chairperson of Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission Festus Mogea must be held accountable for the ongoing Genocide,

Famine and Mass Displacement of civilians in the Republic of South Sudan, Machar’s press secretary Lam Kuei Lam has stated in a press statement seen by Nyamilepedia. Festus Mogea and his three assistants went to Pretoria, South Africa last week and met Machar at his Pretoria residence. Mogae asked Machar to denounce violence, declare unilateral ceasefire and join President Kiir’s national dialogue.

In reaction to Mogae’s unexpected message, Machar told him in the meeting that he (Mogae) will be held responsible for the Genocide that Kiir administration committed on his watch, the rapidly spreading famine, displacement of people to UN Protection camps, the influx of two million refugees to neighbouring countries, the escalation of war, the collapse of peace agreement signed in 2015 and the collapse of transitional government of national unity. He told him all these massacres, displacements and serious violations happened on his (Mogae’s) watch and did nothing to prevent them from happening as the leader of Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission.

In respect to the escalation of war, Machar says the SPLM/SPLA (IO) has no choice but to defend itself from Kiir’s vicious attacks and aggressions. Machar, the leader of SPLM/SPLA (IO) charges that the only way forward to end the war is to initiate a new political process that will include all parties to the conflict. For a durable peace to prevail in South Sudan, the Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan must be reviewed and be resuscitated, he told the JMEC chairman. It was not established as to how Festus Mogae reacted after Machar accused him of mishandling the case of South Sudan.

This is exactly the kind of journalism we don’t want in South Sudan. You told us what Machar said. Tell us also what Festus Mogae said in response to the accusation.

Dut,

Did you read the article or you just reacted to the headline?

Please read the last sentence of the second paragraph which I have quoted here: Festus Mogea and his three assistants went to Pretoria, South Africa last week and met Machar at his Pretoria residence. Mogae asked Machar to denounce violence, declare unilateral ceasefire and join President Kiir’s national dialogue.

You and ilk may not like what Dr. Machar says, but you have not taken into account that Dr. Machar has a very strong following which can be attested by the growing dissent in the country.

Some one has to advised Dr Riak that not this time anymore. He has to hold all his guns against Mogae and his likes. Some one has to tell Mr Mogae that we are South Sudanese. Not any other African groups.
