July 12th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardiit has said that he has understood that his main rival turned peace partner Dr. Riek Machar is seriously committed to peace.

Kiir, as quoted by an official, told a gathering of opposition members at a state dinner hosted by him at presidential palace J1 on Wednesday that he was sure that the main armed opposition leader is seriously for peace more than anytime before but wanted him to return to Juba to prepare for the 30-month transition due to begin in November.

In a statement to Nyamilepedia on Friday, a official quoted Kiir as praising Machar but said he want him to return home for the implementation of the peace agreement.

“I know Dr. Riek is now seriously for peace, but I want him seriously to return home so that we can work out what has not been done to make sure that the next dateline is not missed,” the official who declined not to be named quoted Mr. Kiir as saying.

It is the first time Kiir has made a positive comment over Machar’s commitment to the revitalized peace agreement they both signed in September last year.
