Machar meets outgoing head of ICRC delegation

Juba, South Sudan,

July 17, 2021 – First Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan, Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon has yesterday met in his office, with the outgoing Head of delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, Mr. Julien Lerisson paid a courtesy call to the First Vice President to bid farewell after completing his tenure in South Sudan.

“Mr. Julien Lerisson, the outgoing Head of ICRC in South Sudan said, he came to bide farewell to H.E. First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon for having completed his term as head of ICRC delegation to South Sudan and to introduce the incoming Head of the committee’s delegation,” said in a statement posted on the official Facebook page of the First Vice President.

The statement added that the meeting between Lerisson and First Vice President was cordial and deliberated on the issues to do with the peace process and the pivotal role played by the International Committee of Red Cross to support the course of the peace process.

“Mr.Lerisson added that they had a fruitful discussion with H.E. the First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon about the process of implementation of the Revitalized Agreement of the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS) and the role of ICRC to support the people of South Sudan”, the statement added.
