The President announced the suspension of Mr. Machut in a Republican Decree read on the national broadcaster South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC).

Dr. Machut was appointed as the Undersecretary at the Ministry of Health in June 2020 after Kiir relieved Dr. Makur Matur Koryom, the then Undersecretary. Like his predecessor, no reason was given for the relieve of Dr. Machut.

In a separate Republican Decree, the President appointed Dr. Victoria Anib Majur as the new Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health.

On the parliamentary spectrum, the President relinquished the appointment of Stephen Danga of the SPLM to the Transitional National Legislative Assembly representing Central Equatoria State. The revocation came two days after Mr. Danga was included in the revised list of appointees.

Anita Morsan of Eastern Equatoria State and Hon. John Madeng Chan of Jonglei State, both from the SPLM were appointed to the RTNLA to replace members who lost their positions.

Last week, President replaced 35 parliamentary appointees, the majority of whom from the SPLM ahead of a scheduled swearing-in ceremony.

The members of the TNLA and the Council of States are expected to take oath on 9th July 2021 as the country commemorates its 10th independence anniversary celebrations in the capital Juba.
