February 10th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit, has donated 10,000 bags of Chinese rice to the states of Bahr Al-Ghazal region.

The state-owned South Sudan oil company,  Nilepet facilitated the donation. Kiir had met with Chinese authorities last year on the sideline of Afro-Chinese summit conducted in Beijing to ink the deal of delivering 30,000 bags of Chinese rice.

The Chairperson of South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission, Mr Manase Lomole Apollo Maya, told the SSBC on Saturday that the country has been divided into three groups of 11 states in order to deliver the food donation.

“We divided our states including Abyei to 33 [with] 11 in each batch so we give eleven to some selected states in this consignment, each one receiving 1500 bags of 50 kilograms rice,” he said.

“As the president travels to various states in his visit he would be able not only to see our people but, give them a handshake of what he has managed to gather from friends. You remember very well that he visited china and this is part of the results of his visit,” Manase added.

He added that the government will deliver the same 10,000 bags to other eleven states in the country.

“The next group will also receive 1500 each and we will chose eleven states and in the third we will chose another eleven state and we will clear the whole country,” he added.
