September 2nd 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s Minister of Cabinet Affairs Dr. Martin Elia Lomoro has rubbished claims that President Salva Kiir is responsible for the destruction of the world’s youngest country.
South Sudan descended into a brutal civil war in December 2013 after a disagreement between SPLM – the ruling party – politicians ignited split in the army leading to a civil war mostly fought along tribal lines fitting Kiir’s Dinka against Machar’s Nuer ethnic group.
Speaking during the Greater Equatoria National Dialogue Regional Conference, Lomuro accused some unnamed former members of the ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) of destroying the country instead of Kiir.
“The people who spoke here, some of them are the very people who dismantled this country; they are in the SPLM. They are the leaders of SPLM,” Dr Lomuro said.
“Today, they want to point at the SPLM, saying that it has failed because of Salva Kiir. This isn’t true, they are the failures, just because they have been removed from the government or from their positions,” Dr. Lomoro added.
