August 23rd 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudanese internally displaced persons in the country’s Yei town urged the warring parties to respect the permanent ceasefire agreement signed in Khartoum last June by President Salva Kiir and Opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon.
South Sudan government under Salva Kiir Mayardiit and the SPLM-IO under the leadership of the First Vice-President Designate Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon  signed a permanent ceasefire agreement in June this year and early this month, the two leaders signed the Khartoum Peace Agreement on the out standing issues which reinstated back to his previous position as the first vice president.
Other South Sudan armed and non armed opposition groups including the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) and the SPLM-FDs led by the SPLM former Secretary-General Pagan Amum also signed the agreement despite an early rejection.
Speaking in Yei on Thursday, local Chief Lobirin Mori blamed the South Sudanese leaders for the slow progress on the development in the country.
“Our neighbors have developed so much, but we are lagging behind because we cannot rebuild our lives while we are on the run,” he told journalists on Thursday.
Another IDP says she’s hoping for prevalence of a lasting peace that will culminate in a permanent return to stability.
“What I would love to see first thing is a genuine, inclusive peace process that would guarantee a permanent return to stability. We all stand to lose in this war. Many people have already died, and many others are still dying,” she said.
