September 22nd 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Any government formed without the participation of the main armed opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar would be illegitimate and will not bring the badly needed stability in the world’s youngest country, a Juba-based political analyst said.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit said Thursday that he may be forced to form a unity government without Dr. Riek Machar if the SPLM-IO – the Machar-led armed group – do not decided to go ahead by November.

Speaking to the Eye Radio Network on Friday, Dr. James Okuk, a Juba-based analyst said the government would be incompetent if Kiir do not involve Dr. Riek Machar in its formation.

“As far as we know, Dr. Riek is mentioned by name in the agreement – in chapter one – that he will assume the office of the First Vice President in the reconstituted government of national unity,” Okuk said.

“So, without him as a person, that government will not be compete; the government will be without the FVP, and without the FVP who is handling most of the governance clusters in the council of ministers, more less most of the ministries will be under him,” he added.
