Government admit fighting ongoing near wau

June 30th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan government have confirmed that fighting which May be derailing a permanent ceasefire agreement declared by the South Sudanese President Salva Kiir and opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon has been on going in Western Bhar Al-Ghazal State and some parts of the country this afternoon.

The government however blames the opposition instead for the instigation which the opposition also said for their part that it was instigated by the rival forces loyal to the government of President Salva Kiir Mayardiit.

In a statement seen by the Nyamilepedia, the SPLA spokesman Brig. Gen. Lul Ruai Koang said they have been attacked in foru fronts by the opposition loyal to Machar.

“The SPLA military leadership would like to take this opportunity to inform the people of South Sudan region, international community in general and the CTSAMM in particular about the latest unwanted and unprovoked violation of permanent ceasefire agreement by the SPLA IO rebels loyal to Dr. Riek,” the statement said.

The statement said the opposition attacked them in four fronts on Saturday.

“In the early hours of June 30, 2018 the rebels launched a coordinated attacks on SPLA’s defensive positions in four States, southern Liech state, Northern Liech state, Northern Upper Nile Yei River,” Lul added in the statement dated 30th June 2018.

South Sudan’s President, Salva Kiir and SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar on Wednesday signed a permanent ceasefire agreement and came into effects on Saturday night.
