December 7th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – A former South Sudan deputy governor of the country’s defunct Lakes state has declared his decision to join the South Sudan United Front (SSUF) led by the former army chief, Gen. Paul Malong Awan urging all in Lakes state to abandon the government of President Salva Kiir Mayardiit and join the struggle to remove him from power.

In a statement issued on Wednesday evening and seen by the Nyamilepedia, the former deputy governor, David Nok Marial said he has joined Malong’s SSUF to remove Kiir from power.

“I, David Nok Marial Buot, has declare today, December 5, 2018 to join South Sudan United Front/Army under the able leadership of Gen. Paul Malong Awang,” he said.

Nok urged all the people in Lakes region, including g those serving in the security sector to rebel so as to remove the government of President Salva Kiir from the power which it accused of caring less about the citizens.

“It is for this reason that I call upon all men in uniform of all sectors, youth and intellectuals of former Greater Lakes State to abandon the government that care less about its citizens and that is headed by a President that makes fun of people’s death and join the South Sudan United Front/Army for a maximum impact,” he further said.

The official who resigned from the ruling SPLM party the same day he joined Malong said the removal of President Salva Kiir from power will mark the end of the suffering of the people of South Sudan.

South Sudan United Front led by Malong is not a signatory to a Septemeber peace deal known as the revitalized peace agreement signed by President Salva Kiir and prominent opposition leader Dr. Risk Machar.

Malong had accused President Kiir of derailing his effort to join and participate in the peace process spearheaded by the regional bloc, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
