Former detainees accuse NAS of faking Pagan Amum’s signature on anti-peace statement

September 15th 2018 (Nyamilepedia)  –  The SPLM Former Detainees (SPLM-FDs) have denied claims by the National Salvation Front (NAS) led by Thomas Cirilo that its Chairman and former SPLM Secretary-General, Cde. Pagan Amum Okiech, has rejected the Wednesday peace agreement.

On Wednesday, South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit and opposition leader, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, signed the long-awaited revitalized peace deal in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa to end the five-year old brutal conflict.

On Friday,  the National Salvation Front (NAS) led by Thomas Cirilo released a statement rejecting the agreement saying it does not address the root causes of the conflict.

The statement shows a signature claimed to be that of the leader of the SPLM-FDs, Hon. Pagan Amum.

However in a brief statement issued by Dr.  Majak Agot on his Twitter account on Saturday, the group said Pagan’s signature was forged and was put on the paper using a Photoshoping technology.

“This signature attributed to Pagan Amum is a hoax. It was photoshopped. Our views on the R-ARCSS and the intense extractive interests of some foreign cartels in our country are well articulated. We shouldn’t stretch those parallels too far as we have already stated them,” he wrote on Twitter on Friday
