Briefing the media, the spokesperson of the SPLA-IO Brig. Gen. William Gatjiath Deng confirms the report.

“It serves to inform the public that this morning the Chief of General Staff of United Nation Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) paid a visit to the SPLM/A(IO) HQs in Lanken, which is also the main base of the 3rd Sector under command of Lt.General Thomas Mabor Dhoal” Gen. Gatjiath said.

According to the SPLA-IO officials on the ground, the head of the UN Peacekeeping mission will also visit Akobo after Lanken.

“has just arrived from Juba purposely to visit their patrolling camps both in Akobo and Lanken.” Said Lt. Col.,  Khor James in Lanken.

“He was officially received by Hon. Pal Mai, the deputy caretaker of the Bieh area.” He continued.

Briefing the SPLA-IO, the head of the UN forces educate the local IO forces on the general security situation in Juba and other parts of the country

” he explained in length the security situation in the country which even in his speeches, had indicated and seen publicly that, the peace partners are living in the complete mess.” Said Brig Gen. Gatjiath Deng.

The SPLA-IO forces are losing patience on the slow progress being made.

While forces are desserting cantonments, the SPLA-IO military leadership is demanding that their commander-in-Chief should visit the forces to brief them on the implementation of the peace process.

At least three letters have been written by the SPLA-IO leadership to mediators and peace guarantors to allow Machar to exit the capital, Juba, however, none has responded to their call so far.
