October 9th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The United States ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki R. Haley, said unexpectedly on Tuesday that she would resign at the end of the year.
“It was a blessing to go into the U.N. with body armor every day and defend America,” Haley told reporters with President Trump next sitting next to her.
Nikki has been vocal against South Sudan government over its reluctant to achieve peace with opposition groups including the one led by Machar, the SPLM-IO and she has been praised by many South Sudanese for her tough stands at the UN Security Council against injustices.
“I’ll never truly step aside from fighting for our country. But I will tell you that I think it’s time,” she added.
Trump for his part said he would name a successor within the next two or three weeks while praising the outgoing US diplomat.
“She’s done a fantastic job and we’ve done a fantastic job together. We’re all happy for you in one way, but we hate to lose you,” Trump said.
Haley accused the internal entourage of President Trump of doing a lot of things behind the scenes.
