April 27, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —– To open a new page for the people of South Sudan, former governor of Western Equatoria state, Col. Joseph Bakosoro and his colleagues are finally released from arbitrary detention this evening.
Governor Bakosoro was arrested on Tuesday December 12 2015 by South Sudan national security for reasons related to his speeches between 2013 and 2015, however, he remained in prison without charges until his release today,
For nearly three months, his family, friends and colleagues were not allowed to visit him or shown where he was arrested until mid March this year.
According to reports released by amnesty international last months, more than 35 other politicians, University professors, foreigners and journalists have been in prisons in Juba for many months without charges.
South Sudan government is believed to have arrested many civilians, journalists and politicians, who oppose Salva Kiir government, within the last two years.
With the return of peace, however, it is believed that many prisoners will be released to show commitment to peace, unity, national healing and reconciliation of the South Sudanese people.
