December 5th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan have started a border demarcation process as the continental body, the African Union (AU), demands that all member-states demarcate their borders by 2022, according to Kenyan media.

South Sudan and Kenya have previously signed a Memorandum of Understanding on boundary delimitation and demarcation.

This was after reports of armed confrontation from Kenyan soldiers who invaded a South Sudanese border-area last year.

The government of Uganda is also a part of the process as it also seek to settle border disputes with Kenya. The three countries have set up a committee to look into the border issues so as to strengthen good neighborliness, cooperation and promoting peaceful co-existence amongst their citizens.

The tripartite partnership recognized within the frameworks of both the East African Community and the African Union seeks to emphasize the importance of deepening regional integration, facilitating the development of cross border cooperation while promoting peace, security and stability between the three countries.
