September 14th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The African Union Commission on Thursday welcomed the signing of the South Sudan’s revitalized peace agreement between South Sudan government and opposition groups.

The office of the African Union Chairperson Mousa Faki Mahamat said the chairperson has welcomed the agreement commending the effort made by the IGAD.

“The Chairperson wishes to commend the efforts of the IGAD countries towards addressing the multiple challenges that face South Sudan through a mediated process that culminated in the RACRSS,” said the office of the AU chairman in a statement extended to the Nyamilepedia.

The Chairperson further welcomed the significant role played by the Sudanese President Omar Hassan Ahmed Al-Bashir and his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni in an effort to find an amicable solution to the ongoing South Sudan conflict.

“In particular, the Chairperson wishes to commend the direct involvement of both President Omar Hassan al Bashir and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in spearheading the latest efforts in the search for a lasting solution to the conflict in South Sudan,” the statement said.

The Head of the African Union further emphasized the importance of achieving a lasting peace through non-violent approaches stating that political differences are not resolved militarily.

“The Chairperson underscores the fact that the multiple challenges that face South Sudan can never be resolved through the military option, as they require decisive political leadership that is intent on addressing the plight of the people of South Sudan,” it added.

South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit and opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny signed the long-awaited  revitalized peace agreement in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa to end the five-year bloody conflict.

The agreement was also signed by the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) along with other opposition groups including parties of national agenda in Juba.

The National Salvation Front (NAS) led by Gen. Thomas Cirilo and People’s Democratic Movement (PDM) let by Dr. Hakim Dario abstained saying it ignored most of their concerns including the issue of the number of the states.

Thanks you very much Mr. chair for your word of contribution on South Sudan dialogue. Yes, I also notice that others groups have decline to contribute this peaceful negotiation between the parties, to find the way for peace resolution. Any negotiation there is/are always doubtful groups who may think it will not work out. They will come to their realization when things workout just fine without them. Because it is a individual ‘s decision whether to contribute or abstain from it. No pressure on them except those who are the main parties and have direct impact on negotiation. Yes, though some fighting still happening here and there as time goes on things will begin to die down and improve for the better. The citizen are exhausted to the point they do not know what to do. but The Lord has already taken notice on it. They shouldn’t lose hearts on this. Anything that happen according to the Lord has it ‘s well balanced first comes challenging time and that following by Glorious time this happen more often when situation like this occur. I have no doubt what soever, that you are moving to the solution rather than deeper problem even though to seal this suffering there is one more challenge ahead of you. Yes, it is too narrow that survival will seem slim on the eyes of the world. But take courage never have fearful heart regardless.
