3 people killed in an ambush near Pibor

Pibor, South Sudan.

December 1, 2021—Authorities in Pibor Administrative area have reported that at least three men including a trader were killed in two separate road ambushes in the outskirts of the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) capital, Pibor over the weekend.

In a statement obtained by Nyamilepedia, the GPAA Information minister, Jay Adingora Alual, said that a trader, who was traveling to LiKuangole, was killed on Sunday near Pibor.

“In the first incident, a trader heading to Likuangole was killed just one kilometer outside Pibor town,” Minister Alual said on Sunday in a statement

According to the senior state official, two men were also ambushed while moving to Likuangole, north of Pibor town on the same road at noontime.

Hon. Alual revealed that no one was immediately arrested, adding that the perpetrators fled to the bush after committing the crimes.

For his part, the Pibor County commissioner, John Amor Yaya said the culprits are yet to be arrested but assures that the local authorities are on duty to trace the location of the criminals.

“Those people are unknown gunmen who have killed several people on that road and we do not know where they went but the government is investigating the matter,” Commissioner Yaya said.
