13 children abducted from Greater Pibor Administrative Area have been rescued in Jonglei State.

July 22, 2021 — Authorities in Jonglei State says they have rescued 13 children allegedly abducted by armed youth group from within Jonglei State.

The authorities in Jonglei State confirmed that 13 children who were abducted by armed young men suspected of being from Duke County of Jonglei State have been rescued.

According to the reliable information received by Nyamilepedia, the County Commisioner of Duke says the abductees were traced and rescued in a villages of Poktab and Panyang.

Duke County commissioner, John Chatiem says the children were rescued on different days last week, he says they ranges in ages from four to fifteen years old.

“We have children that have been recovered in my compound they were recovered from Poktab and Panyang Area, we are still engaging our local leaders to recover more children in the remote villages”, Commissioner Chatiem said and quoted by V.O.A.

Chatiem is calling on UNICEF, Safe the Children and other Agencies to help with the children welfare and facilitate their hand over to their families in Pibor.

” The Children needs food, medicines and clothes, we are only providing security to them but we are struggling with their feeding, so we urge the UN Agencies to intervene by providing food, medicine and to provide the transport”, Chatiem added.

Commisioner Chatiem is also appealing to the authorities in the neighboring Greater Pibor Administrative Area to trace a recovered abducted children in their area.

Chief Administrator of the Greater Pibor Administrative Area, Lokoli Ame Bullen welcomed the efforts by Jonglei State authorities to recover the children and women who were kidnapped from their communities.

” I am very happy, this was my priority Unity, Peace and Reconciliation with my neighbors in Greater Jonglei, my priority is to return all abducted children and abducted mothers to their families as we already started we returned abductees to Lou Nuer, Equatoria and all the neighboring States “Ame said.

” So it is already a program and I will appreciate my brothers from Duke who abducted children and returned the abductees I think it’s miracle because it is a first time “, GPAA Chief Administrator emphasized.
