January 6th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The construction of the Juba-Bahr el-Ghazal high-way will resume next week after installing for months, government officials told Nyamilepedia in separate statements on Monday.
The government of South Sudan contracted a Chinese road firm last year to construct the longest road in the country. The government would pay the Chinese company in form of oil.
Speaking to Nyamilepedia on Monday, a government official at the Ministry of Roads and Bridges said the construction will resume next week saying dispute with a community in Lado County have agreed the use of their land.
“The construction of the [Juba-]Bahr el-Ghazal will resume next week,” the official said on the condition of anonymity. “The government have come into understanding with the community at Jebel Lado for the government to use their land and the mountain for the betterment of the country.”
Another government official said the Chinese company “has been given their value of the work and will start immediately.”
