November 15th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The Trump Administration has given almost $100 million in aid to South Sudan flood victims. The USAID said the donation will also cover those affected by the country’s civil war which began in December 2013.

South Sudan in October was affected by a flood displacing many including in sites where IDPs are assembled for protection and the money which is $92.5 million will be used to better their conditions according to US ambassador to South Sudan.

“Floods have exacerbated conditions that were already very precarious for more than 900,000 people in South Sudan,” US ambassador to South Sudan Thomas Hushek said.

“We are supporting humanitarian buy isotretinoin organizations that are already responding with assistance in the worst-affected parts of Jonglei and Upper Nile, and will continue to provide lifesaving assistance to people in need in South Sudan,” he added.

South Sudan descended into a bloody civil war in December 2013 after a dispute within the ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Party triggered a split in the country’s army along  ethnic lines with the Dinka supporting President Kiir while the Nuer supporting fellow Machar.

The conflict has killed around half a million and displaced millions to internal camps and refugee camps in the neighboring countries. A peace agreement was signed last year but the parties are struggling to implement its terms as regional and international community decries “lack of political will.”
